Roche Diagnostics Notches Up To 21 on Training Magazine's 2005 Top 100 List

Roche Diagnostics Corporation of Indianapolis , Ind. , the number one diagnostics company in the United States , today announced that it has been named to Training magazine's 2005 Top 100 list for the second year. This year, Roche notched its ranking to 21, after it debuted on the list last year at number 24.

Training magazine recognizes organizations that stand head and shoulders above their peers in workforce training and development. The organizations they select not only make sizable investments in their human assets, they do so strategically and creatively. In addition, among the top companies, training is focused on driving targeted business results and their ability to measure the impact on their business. Roche Diagnostics had numerous examples of training excellence and was noted by Training magazine for training that had a direct impact on increasing the accuracy of billing, in the first month after training.

“We are honored to be among Training magazine's Top 100 companies. Each day at Roche, we strive to improve our training and leadership programs. The fact that we are able to measure those improvements and track our results to meet our business goals and objectives is quite exciting,” said John Getty, Vice President Learning and Development at Roche Diagnostics. “One of our fundamental drivers for our people is to make sure we offer them opportunities for development and growth, so they can realize their fullest potential,” he added.

The ranking for the Training Top 100 is based on factors such as:

  • Financial investment in employee development,
  • Type and scope of training and development programs provided
  • Quality of programs, and
  • How closely development efforts are linked to business goals and objectives.

Over the last several years, Roche Diagnostics has invested in training and development programs for its approximately 3,500 people who are located in Indianapolis and remote locations throughout the U.S. In 2001, Roche Diagnostics implemented a comprehensive development approach that entails each employee having an Individual Development Plan focused on short- and long-term goals. In addition, in 2003, Roche launched a new learning system, titled “myLEARNINGlink” to broaden the scope and increase the efficiency and effectiveness of its training and development opportunities. This recognition reinforces Roche's outstanding work in continuing market leadership through leveraging innovative training and development as a foundation of its business strategy.

Roche reached another milestone this year, when it was named to FORTUNE'S “100 Best Companies to Work for 2005” list. “Making Training magazine's and FORTUNE'S Top 100 lists in the same year, is a true honor and testament to our people. They are the heart of our business and we are very proud of everyone who helped to make this happen,” said Patti Ayars, Senior Vice President Human Resources and Corporate Communications at Roche Diagnostics.
