During your first year with Roche, you are eligible for vacation based on when in the year you begin your employment.
Holidays
Roche Diagnostics provides paid holidays during the year. In addition to paid holidays, Roche provides personal days.
Personal Leaves
A number of personal leaves are available to Roche people to help with balancing work and life responsibilities.
- Bonding - To support Roche people and their families during the special time after the birth or adoption of a child, adoptive parents, birth fathers and domestic partners may take up to one week at full pay. Additional unpaid time is also available.
- Military - Roche people on military leave receive full pay for the first month, up to five additional months of pay to supplement military pay, and benefits for family members remain unchanged for the duration of the military leave.
- Jury - Roche supports people in performing their civic responsibilities by providing full pay for people called to jury duty for as long as the jury is in session
- Condolence - Roche provides up to five days off with pay in the event of the death of an immediate family member, including domestic partners.
- Personal - With management approval, unpaid time away may be taken to attend to personal business or to care for a domestic partner or extended family member.
Staying Healthy
Roche helps people balance career demands with a healthy lifestyle:
- Nurse Consultation - at the Indianapolis campus, nurse consultations are available for health-related questions, concerns, referrals and screenings. The staff are able to write prescriptions when needed, in addition, for your convenience the nurses will administer injections, remove stitches, and perform other medical services.
- Fitness - Roche offers several on-campus fitness classes
- Health Screenings - Screenings offered on-campus provide a convenient way to continuously monitor well-being. Mobile mammography and skin cancer screenings as well as wellness profiles, an extensive evaluation of blood chemistry, are offered by appointment at various times through the year. Flu shots are offered on-site annually.
- Health Motivation and Wellness Education Sessions - Classes supporting your health and well-being are offered on-site. Examples include topics like healthy eating in a hectic world, family fitness, and CPR training. In addition, for your convenience programs such as Weight Watchers and seated massages are offered also on-site.
Supporting Your Family
Roche understands that taking care of family is a primary concern and that's why we offer benefits to help you support your family needs.
- Adoption Benefits - Roche provides assistance for qualified adoption expenses up to $5,000 per adoption with a $10,000 lifetime maximum
- Employee Assistance Plan - Child and elder care referral resources are available through the EAP as well as assistance with legal, financial, and relationship issues. EAP services are available to all Roche people, their families, and anyone living in their household.
- Flexible working arrangements - With management approval, you can choose a flexible working arrangement to help you to care of your family. These alternative arrangements including compressed work weeks, summer hours, part time arrangements, job sharing, and telecommuting are designed to meet your special needs.
- Voluntary Benefits - Voluntary insurance benefits such as long-term care, automobile, homeowners, and other types of property and casualty insurance are available through payroll deduction for your convenience.
Getting Involved
Roche Diagnostics offers our community of people a number of ways to get involved and further develop relationships outside of the normal work day.
- Employee Park - Roche people and their families who love nature and exercise can enjoy the employee park located on the Indianapolis campus. Those that are interested in gardening can cultivate and nurture a plot in the park and use the produce to feed their families or donate it to the harvest from the plots designated to feed the hungry in our community.
- Sports leagues - Roche sponsors several sports leagues for people to join coworkers in good spirited team competitions throughout the year.
- Events - Events include an annual photo contest, a holiday choir of Roche people who bring the spirit of the holidays to the Indianapolis campus, and regular on-site blood drives to support the community blood center.
Promoting Performance and Excellence
We take pride in our accomplishments and appreciate and respect the hard work and dedication of our people.
- Recognition Awards - Special Recognition Awards are given to people nominated by colleagues or management who have made sustained, specific and significant contributions to annual business unit and/or corporate performance beyond normal job responsibilities.
- Service - Service is recognized with gifts at special anniversaries and at 25 years, a special parking space is provided near the entrance to the building where the person works.
- Recognition Plaza - Pillars in the special Recognition Plaza in the center of the Roche campus display gold medallions bearing the names and service dates for each of Roche's people who have reached 10 or more years of service. A special banquet is also held annually to honor people with ten or more years of service with the company. Retirees are also invited to the event, which is attended by 600-700 honored guests.
- Premier Performers Club - this award recognizes the top salespeople at Roche with an all expense paid, luxury vacation for the salesperson and a guest.
Saving Time and Money
Because we all live busy lives, Roche Diagnostics provides several amenities designed to help you save time and money.
- Dry Cleaning - on-site pick-up and drop-off
- Employee discounts - Roche employees enjoy discounts from a wide variety of merchants for such things as child care, apartments, apparel, entertainment, hotels, restaurants, banking services and many more.
- Lactation Rooms - Lactation rooms furnished with a breast pump, sink, and clock are located in several buildings on campus for the convenience of our nursing mothers.
- Time Savers - Time Savers is a user-friendly search service available 24 hours a day through the EAP to help you locate resources for personal and home needs, health and wellness, and pet care.
